Keaton Callins
Keaton Callins finished with over 4,000 yards of offense including 58 total touchdowns and is the all time passing quarterback in Guthrie history.

The Guthrie BlueJay football program by far had its best decade ever in its program history. The decade saw two state championships, a district championship, 15 All-State selections, and 12 Oil Bowl selections.

The hiring of Rafe Watkins prior to the 2001 season was the beginning of things to happen and just think Noble passed up on the ball coach in 2000. Watkins has surrounded himself with outstanding assistant coaches and has been able to keep his staff together for the most part.

The Jays hit the field 120 times from 2000-2009 and won 75% of those games with a 90-30 record. As impressive as that was Guthrie was 14-6 (70%) in the playoff's that included reaching the state semi's four times.

Guthrie was often on top of the Class 5A rankings and did for awhile during a school record 20-game winning streak from 2007 to 2008. The previous longest stretch was 10 wins a row in 2002.

The 2002 state championship "dream team" opened the door for the rest of the decade with their 12-2 memorable season when those Jays kept on winning and winning and winning. The last five wins came against the toughest teams in 5A that year: Carl Albert, Ardmore, East Central, Chickasha, and Booker T. Washington.

The 2007 state championship "perfect team" showed how dominant one team can be as they set school and Oklahoma records with

an offense that averaged 54 points a game, including eight games where they scored 60 plus points, and allowed just six points a game, including eight shut-outs.

The 2007 season saw the Jays defense recorded 19 straight shut-out quarters breaking their 2006 record of 18 quarters.

In the decade where high school football became a household event with more and more games being broadcasted, the Jays played in front of the camera's 10 times and won seven of them.

Unfortunately, the decade was filled with sadness as well with the passing of Kale Powell, Tyler Nichols, and Jared Pearce. All three made impacts on Guthrie and more of an impact to this day. All three have a memorial or foundation that help give back to those who are in need.

Guthrie Sports Page will do the unthinkable and release an All Decade team for offense, defense, and special teams. As you can imagine the list was easy in some spots to pick, but in most cases very difficult to choose, and not one list is going to be identical to someone else's. Here is Guthrie Sports Page All Decade Team:
