Noble, Okla. -- The
Guthrie Lady Jays could not wait to get back onto the court
after starting out 0-5 to begin the season and off for more then
two weeks during the Christmas break.
The Lady Jays picked up their first win of
the season with a dominating performance over the winless Noble
Lady Bears 82-21 inside the Noble High School gymnasium.

Guthrie jumped out to a 19-2 first quarter lead and put the game away with a
first half 24-0 run.
Sophomore Ashley Shields led the scoring ways with 19 points and was one of four
Jays to score in double figures, including junior Allyson Chadd.
Chadd finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds and was named the Farmers and
Merchants Player of the Game.
On the night, head coach Terry Carris' Jays shot 44% from the
field and saw 11 players put points on the board.
The previous high in points for Guthrie was 40 against Muskogee
and averaged 34.8 entering the game.
Guthrie will participate in the Chickasha Tournament beginning
this Thursday against Class 4A's top ranked and undefeated (9-0)
Cache.
