For the sixty-fifth year, Northeastern Oklahoma
A&M College will host the NEO High School Basketball Tournament.
The tournament will be held from Thursday, January 21 through
Saturday, January 23. Forty teams from throughout Oklahoma,
Missouri, Kansas and Arkansas will compete, said Dustin Grover,
interim director of intercollegiate athletics.
According to the sports editor of the Miami News
Record, Jim Ellis said, "We "only" have 40 teams this year. It
is down from 52 a year ago. Back in the '90s it peaked out at
98."
The Guthrie Lady Jays will play in the girls
round robin action beginning with Grove on Thursday, Roland on
Friday, and Durant on Saturday.
Grove enters the NEO round robin with a 3-4
record at last check, Durant has a 4-8 record, and 4A's Roland
is 8-5.

The Guthrie Lady Jays won their second game in a
row with a 40-38 win over the Durant Lady Lions. The Jays won
two of three games in the round robin.
Guthrie trailed as many as 12 points in the
fourth quarter before rallying back to earn the win.

The Guthrie Lady Jays needed overtime to finish
off Roland, but pick up their third win of the season on day two
of the NEO round robin. Guthrie lead at halftime 22-17, but
Roland used a 18-13 advantage in the second half to tie the game
at the end of regulation at 35-all.
Day One
Guthrie 37, Grove 45
The Lady Jays got off to a slow
start with just two first quarter points as Grove was not much
better with seven, but rallied in the second quarter to score 19
points and lead at half time 26-11.
Guthrie outscored the Lady Ridgerunners 26-19 in the second half, but could not overcome
the first half deficit as they fall 45-37.
For the second time this season,
the Lady Jays have lost five games in a row and fall to 2-11 on
the season.
