The first 42 seconds and the first half looked promising for the Guthrie Lady Jays, but 12th ranked Shawnee Lady Wolves used their deep bench to pull out a 60-36 win in the Shawnee Event Center, Friday evening.
Meagen Mahtiushquah hit Shawnee's first seven points to tie the game at 7-all, but then the Lady Jays would go on a 6-2 run to regain the lead 13-9. However, Shawnee ended the opening quarter on a 9-0 run in the final 1:53 to lead 18-13. Guthrie would no longer have a lead.
The Lady Wolves had a halftime lead of 31-23 and a third quarter lead of 42-33, but Guthrie got within two, 35-33. However, Shawnee would then go on a 16-0 run over the next 6:00 to open the game.
Senior Jessica Peacock finished with a team high 13 points and was followed closely by Allyson Chadd with 8 points and 11 boards.
The Lady Wolves bench added 38 points while Guthrie was able to just get six off the bench.
Guthrie will now get ready for regional action, next Thursday, when they travel to El Reno for an 8:00 start.
