The Guthrie Lady Jays tried to make it two upsets in a row over the Lady Indians of El Reno High School, but fell short 41-31 at Guthrie High School, Thursday evening.
Guthrie defeated El Reno, on the road, for the regional championship last season.
El Reno jumped out to a 9-5 first quarter lead, but Guthrie sliced into that lead by outscoring El Reno, 11-4, in the second period and took a 16-13 lead into the half.
El Reno, however, would return the favor by out shooting the Jays, 12-5 in the period, and with 16 fourth quarter points out lasted the Lady Jays, who fall to 1-6 in the Suburban Conference and 4-12 overall. El Reno improved to 14-3 overall, but dropped their game with Deer Creek the following night to fall to 14-4.
Alexis Daniels led the scoring way for Guthrie by adding nine points and Jessica Peacock was right behind her with 8 points.
