For the third time this season the Harrah Lady Panthers took down the Guthrie Lady Jays, but this time the, 51-27, win for Harrah sends them to the State Tournament.
Guthrie will return back to Norman North High School on Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. contest with the Lady Bulldogs of Altus High School. Altus ended the season of Lawton MacArthur in the nightcap with a convincing 44-28 victory.
Altus will enter the game with an 11-15 record and is the No.9 seed on the West side of the state. Guthrie (13-11) is the No.6 seed. The Guthrie-Altus winner moves on to the State Tournament which begins on next Thursday. Altus lost in the regional championship game to Carl Albert by a slim 37-32 margin.
The Guthrie-Altus winner will play Tulsa Washington in the first round of State.
Carl Albert, Tulsa Washington, and Coweta got wins Thursday night to make the state tournament.
Harrah started the game by making six of their first eight shots (75%) and took a 6-0 lead in the games first 1:23. Guthrie weathered the storm as best as they could, but trailed the Lady Panthers 14-8 at the end of quarter one.
Guthrie would score just 4-points in the next quarter, but Harrah was not much better by adding 9. Throughout the game Harrah would show multiple types of pressure with full court and half court traps.
Trailing 23-12 at the half, Harrah would open the game for good by doubling up the Lady Jays 16-8 in the third quarter.
Freshmen Tory Dwyer led Guthrie with 14-points and outscored her teammates by 1-point. Kayla Thomas was the games high scorer with 18-points.
