Senior
Emily Davis continues to be recognized for her senior campaign as a Guthrie Lady
Jay and junior guard Donte' Foster picked up his second honor after helping the
Jays to a school's fifth state championship.
Davis, who was named to the Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association (OGBCA) All-State team last month, was awarded with yet another All-State award. This time from the Oklahoma Coaches Association and will play for the West team when they take on the East team at Carl Albert High School, on Wednesday, July 30th with a tip-time of 8:30.
Davis was also named to the OGBCA All Region team in Regional 1. She joins the list with seven other girls.
Davis help lead the Guthrie Lady Jays to a 13-12 record and a district championship. The program had struggled the past few seasons to produce a winning a record, and a district championship has been missing for a minimum of 18 straight seasons, but Davis with her15 points a contest helped the program over come those two obstacles in the same year. Davis has also been named honorable mention All-City from the Oklahoman newspaper.
Davis will play the (OGBCA) All-State game on Saturday, May 31 and will be played in Weatherford.
Photo by Jeff Chappell On the same day, Foster was named as an All District selection made by the Oklahoma Boys Basketball Coaches Association. Foster was also named the Suburban Conference Player of the Year. Foster and the Jays won the 2008 5A state title something they had not done in 39 years.
