Boxley named track Coach of the YearThe Guthrie coach helps lead the Jays to their first ever state championship

Guthrie track and field won their first ever state
championship this past spring and the accolades continue to come in for
the program.The latest achievement came from Tulsa, in the annual business meeting at the Oklahoma Coaches Clinic, with Guthrie's Gary Boxley being selected as the Oklahoma Track Coaches Association Coach of the Year. Boxley, along with Guthrie Hall of Fame coach Clay Tarter, coached the Jays to a dominating 48-point win over fellow Class 5A opponents. Boxley, who also serves as the Jays athletic director, said Clay "deserves this honor as much as I do." Some of Coach Boxley’s accomplishments include: two State Championship Track Teams
The Oklahoma Track Coach’s Association named
Boxley the 2009 Oklahoma Boys’ Track Coach of the Year, and in 2002
he was named the Girls’ Track Coach of the Year. He
was named the Oklahoma Coach of the Year for Region 5 in 1981.
Tarter was named the 2009 Oklahoman's Big All City Track Coach of the Year and
echoed the same sentiments about Boxley of "winning it together". |
