Head Coach Mary Hudson
Mary Hudson started
coaching at Stillwater High School in 1980. She was the JV girls
basketball coach and the varsity girls tennis coach. Hudson married Rob
and the next summer moved to Shawnee for Rob to finish OU Law School.
Hudson taught and coached basketball and tennis at Shawnee Junior High School. They started a family as Rob was finishing law school and Hudson stayed home
with Robbie, John, Greg, Amy and Hank for the next 13 years.
During those 13 years, Hudson played tennis on a USTA team out of Edmond and
coached little league soccer and basketball. Hudson needed to qualify her
coaching soccer, and attempted as Rob and herself had to go to the public
library to check out books on soccer as they knew nothing about the sport.
Hudson has been teaching and coaching for Guthrie since 2000. Hudson says, "It has been a great opportunity to be coaching at Guthrie. The past couple of years we have been very competitive at the state level. I believe that to be quite an accomplishment since we do not have many courts to practice on. We have had to be very creative with our drills since we have varsity, junior varsity and junior high all trying to play on a very limited number of courts."
Hudson grew up playing basketball and tennis in Bartlesville. She graduated from College High. At the time of graduating, Bartlesville had two high schools and now they have one which is Bartlesville High School. Her senior year she made All-State in Tennis. Hudson continued to play tennis at OSU her freshman year. After placing second at the Big 8 tournament in No. 6 singles, she decided to not play varsity and enjoy OSU Intramurals.
