Netters compete in conference tournament

The BlueJay and Lady Jay tennis teams hit the courts for the Suburban Conference Tournament at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

 

Daniel Breedlove and Hank Hudson place second in No. 1 doubles play. They had a tight three setter with Carl Albert and played a tie breaker for third set that went to 16-14.

 

William Bohanan and Josh Wehrenberg placed third in No. 2 doubles.  The duo lost to Carl Albert in the semi-finals and defeated Deer Creek to place.

 

For the Lady Jays, Janie Nolen and Kaitlyn Wade placed third in No. 1 doubles action. They played a great match against Shawnee, but lost 7-5, 6-3.  They played Deer Creek for the third placed medal and easily beat them.

 

Brooke Powell and Paige Powell placed also placed third in  No. 2 doubles.  They lost to Carl Albert in the semi-finals, but rally to beat Deer Creek in a three set match.

 

Brittney Berryman placed fourth at No. 1 singles by defeating a girl from Western Hts in the first round and to set up a match with a Shawnee competitor.  Berryman had a tough match against her and dropped the match 6-1, 7-5.  In her third place match she lost to Deer Creek.

 

Megan Hickman placed fourth at No. 2 singles. She beat Chickasha in the first round and then lost to Harrah in the semi-finals.  In her third place match she lost to Shawnee 6-3, 6-4.

 

Both teams will have a week off before traveling back to the Oklahoma City Tennis Center to compete in the  Altus BridgeBuilders Tournament on Thursday, April 23. Last year the BlueJays came away with the second place team trophy while the Lady Jays captured the second place prize.
