Oklahoma tennis coaches met, in Tulsa, for the Oklahoma Coaches Clinic last week.

Guthrie High School tennis coach Mary Hudson nominated Berryman for the scholarship and all of the coaches voted to honor the 2009 GHS graduate.

Every year the coaches give this scholarship to a senior tennis player, that will play tennis at the college level.

Berryman was the only Lady Jay this season to qualify in singles competition for the State Tournament this past spring and lettered in basketball for head coach Terry Carris for three seasons.

Berryman will be playing tennis at Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kansas beginning on August 18th. Heritage Hall tennis coach Dick Vilaflor presented Berryman her check.

The Cowley Lady Tigers finished their season by finishing eighth in the NJCAA Women's National Tennis Tournament after winning the VI Regional Tournament.

Coach Vilaflor also presented Mary Hudson a scholarship on behalf of BlueJay alum Ross Cunningham, son of Kevin Cunningham, a GHS counselor.

This scholarship was presented by the OTCA in appreciation of Ross' accomplishments in tennis as a nationally ranked tennis player at Tulsa University.

The money will help Ross continue working on his masters degree at Tulsa.

Ross' tennis season came to a halt due to a tragic accident while riding a scooter and being hit by a car. Ross continues to recover and improve.
