Guthrie boys win Harrah Tournament

        The Bluejay tennis team won their first team title on the season by capturing the Harrah Tournament.

 

        Guthrie got wins from Michael Oates in No. 1 singles and the team of Hank Hudson and Daniel Breedlove captured the No. 1 doubles title.

        Oates took advantage of a first round and then defeated Tyler Nguyen from Carl Albert 6-2, 6-4.  In the finals, he defeated Zack Louthan from Christian Heritage Academy  6-4, 6-0 to win the No. 1 singles division.        

        Hudson and Breedlove picked up their second win on the year by defeating Nguyen and Silva from US Grant 6-1, 6-2 in the second round after receiving a first round bye. In the finals, they defeated Klish and Patterson of Carl Albert 6-4, 6-4.

        In other action, Corey Cain brought home a fifth place finish in No. 2 singles. Cain got a first round win over Landen Burch of Purcell 7-5, 6-2 and then dropped his next two matches. Meanwhile, William Bohanan and Josh Wehrenberg placed 3rd in the No. 2 doubles division with a win over US Grant in the third place match, 6-3-6-0.

        Both the Lady Jays and Bluejays will take part in the Altus Tournament to be played at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center (OCTC), on Thursday.
