DAY 1 5A State Golf Tourney
The Guthrie Lady Jay Golf team is taking advantage of being back in the state golf tournament after Day 1 at the 72 par Earlywine North Golf Course.
The Lady Jays are currently sit in sixth place, in the 5A State Golf Tournament, with a team score of 381. The score has the Lady Jays in the top half of the standings. Duncan, the defending state champions, is leading the course with a 15 shot lead over Altus.
Guthrie enters the tournament winners of the Suburban Conference and marks their first state tourney berth in recent years.
The low shooter for the Jays was freshmen McCandren Lewis with a round of 79. Kacey Acker followed closely with an 85 while Kelsey Walker shot a 103. Other scorers for Guthrie were Brittany Ochs and Jasmine Linville.
"Jasmine Linville has shown the most improvement, lowering her scores by 20 strokes since the beginning of the season, "head coach Mike Longstreth said.
The final round is set for Thursday.

DAY 1 5A State Golf Tourney
The Guthrie Lady Jays finised the 5A State Golf Tournament with a seventh place finish. Duncan, who was last season's tournament, won this year's tournament by 10 shots over Altus.
McCandren Lewis, who shot a 79 on day one, finished the second round with a 12-over par score of 84 to finish as the low shooter for the Lady Jays.
Kacey Acker shot four more shots then she did on day one to finish with a score of 174. Brittany Ochs and Jasmine Linville improved 26 shots combined on day two from day one.
McAlester leaped the Lady Jays on day two on the final score card, but one through five remained the same.
