The Junior Jays open the Guthrie-Deer Creek dual in domination fashion, but the Deer Creek varsity ended the night with domination at Guthrie High School. In the end, Deer Creek finished with 11 wins with 9 pins.
The Junior Jays walked away 51-19 victors while the varsity Jays could only manage two wins in a 67-6 lopsided loss to the 9th ranked team in Class 5A according to the latest coaches poll. Guthrie stands at number 13 in the dual rankings.
Senior Ryan Bilyeu continued to his winning ways with an 11-5 decision over Heath Boyd, a junior. It was a classic match-up that featured No.1 vs No. 3 in the 145 pound division in Class 5A, but was controlled from Bilyeu.
Deer Creek's Bryant Preston, ranked No. 2 in 119, needed overtime to edge junior Kolt Rinehart 9-7.
Guthrie's only other victory came from Ryan Kitch with a 6-2 decision over Taylor.
The Jays will be back in action Friday and Saturday as they compete in the Carl Albert Tournament.
