Game Buildup |
The Jays and Cougars have scrimmaged over the
last couple of seasons, but this time it is for real and in a
big way with Ada moving into the district.
Both teams are expected to be in the playoffs. A win for Guthrie
keeps their mindset on the district championship, and a win for
Ada may have them thinking about a hosting a home playoff game.

Season
Outlook |
The Ada Cougars are still making the adjustments
after jumping up to Class 5A. This season they move into the
district and will be challenged in the trenches with the bigger
athlete's.
The Cougars must replace their top player from a year ago, at
quarterback. Currently, Chase Robson, a sophomore, appears to be
the signal caller, but Ada could switch between two others at
the spot.
Head coach Matt Weber returns for his second season and is
moving players around on the field to try and fit into his
scheme's.
Ada is a tradition rich schools with multiple state title's. The
recent move up to 5A has had some affect on the Cougar football
squad, but still are a dangerous team and can not be over looked
especially when playing at home. |

Players to
Watch |
Andrew Scribner (6'0, 255 Sr.)
OL
Payton Patton (6'5, 222 Sr.) DL
Ronald Lucas (5'9, 161 Sr.) Secondary |
 |
Key's vs Ada's Offense |
Guthrie must put pressure on the young Ada
quarterback. The Coug's are replacing their quarterback, who
gave defense's fit with his ability to run outside the pocket.
Shutting down the running backs and the running game will be
another key as that appears to be the bread and butter for Ada's
offense. |
 |
Key's vs Ada's Defense |
Ada will have experience up front, but will have
some fresh faces at the outside and inside linebacker positions.
Guthrie will try and establish a running game, but very well
could see a short passing game to try and spread the defense
out.
The Cougars present two good athlete's in the secondary in
Ronald Lucas and Cale Russell so the Jays will need a good
offensive plan to have success. |
 |
Game
Implications |
The Cougars will likely be 1-0 in the district
when they face the Jays and the Jays will be coming off an
emotional game with Deer Creek in the district opener in Week 4.
This game will be big when determining how these teams will
finish in the district. An Ada win and they have a great chance
of starting out 4-0 in the district. Regardless, both teams look
to be in the playoffs. |
