2009 Opponent Preview: Shawnee Wolves
GuthrieSporsPage.com previews each of Guthrie's
2009 opponents.
Guthrie, Okla. -- As the BlueJays prepare for the
upcoming football season, GuthrieSportsPage.com prepares you with
everything you'll need to know about the opposition.
In the coming weeks, we will take an in-depth look at each of
Guthrie's 2009 opponents with stat breakdowns, players to watch and
keys to the game. Next up, Shawnee Wolves on October 23rd, at Jim
Thorpe Stadium, in Shawnee.
Guthrie must put Carl Albert behind them quickly as Shawnee awaits
the Jays on their home turf. Guthrie has won the last four meetings,
but the last win against the Jays was in Shawnee for the '05
district title.
Good news, bad news for the Wolves include all around athlete Brett
Davis is off to Tulsa University, but returns quarterback Braylee Brown
for his junior campaign. Also, the Wolves were hit with several key
players transferring out.
The schedule turns around this year for the Wolves with Carl Albert,
Ardmore, and Guthrie coming to Jim Thorpe Stadium. Expect Shawnee
back in the play-off's.

Key vs.
Shawnee's Offense |
Brayle Brown returns back to the signal caller spot, but who will
help him remains a question. A committee of running backs are trying
to separate themselves in practice. Jays secondary must be ready for
the passing game if the Wolves running game has not been
established.

Key vs.
Shawnee's
Defense |
Guthrie, much alike the Wolves offense, may have a hard time running
the ball against a tough defensive line especially on the ends.
Guthrie may look to bust the middle of the D with both running and
passing the ball.
Shawnee would like to get rid of that BlueJay winning streak against
them and Guthrie would love to steal a road game in the district. A
win is big in this game for either team and it could mean a home
play-off game.
