2009 Opponent Preview: Harrah Panthers

GuthrieSporsPage.com previews each of Guthrie's 2009 opponents.

Guthrie, Okla. -- As the BlueJays prepare for the upcoming football season, GuthrieSportsPage.com prepares you with everything you'll need to know about the opposition.

In the coming weeks, we will take an in-depth look at each of Guthrie's 2009 opponents with stat breakdowns, players to watch and keys to the game. Next up, Harrah Panthers on October 9th, at Evans Field, in Harrah.

    Game Buildup
A Rafe Watkins led team has never lost to a Harrah Panther team with big wins in all of them except his first season (2001). Jays will be big favorites again this year.

    Season Outlook
The number of players coming out for football continues to improve each year under head
coach Greg Willis. However, he will have to replace many of them after graduation.

Harrah continues to be hampered by being in Class 5A. The Panthers competed well in 4A, but the bump up in class has not done the Panthers any favors in recent years. Still yet, Harrah will have a chance at 3-4 win season.

    Player to Watch
Brett Roberts | QB | No. 11 | Senior

Other Key Players: Dylan Aguilar, Jeremy Ellison

    Key vs. Harrah's Offense
Roberts is effective passing the ball when allowed time to do so. Guthrie is experienced in the front seven and will look to cause havoc on the returning QB.

Brashier is the running back and runs hard along with Roberts. However, the Panthers must find the end zone something they did not do by averaging less then two touchdowns a game. If the Jays contain this duo they will make it 9-0 against the Panthers since 2001.

    Key vs. Harrah's Defense
Harrah brings back a good portion of their front seven so look for the Jays to try and take advantage of the new look secondary. However, you must stop the run against a Rafe Watkins team first.

    Game Implications
Guthrie looks to improve in the win column and Harrah looks to improve and try and close the gap between them and the Jays.
