The off season for Guthrie's sophomore-to-be left
tackle Blake Belcher continues to draw high praise from recruiting
services. The latest praise Belcher received was being named to the Top 15 athletes in his position per grade from the Ultimate 100 Invite Camp and will attend the Top Prospect Camp at the University of Oklahoma later this month. Belcher first attended the National Underclassmen Combine, at Tulsa Memorial, earlier this summer and was named the Overall Most Valuable Player for the offensive linemen. "Blake was our Offensive lineman MVP for the 8th/9th grade combine session. He tested fairly well for a young lineman and for his size at 6'4" 240 lbs," a NUC spokesperson said in a returned email. |
"He was very
dominant in the one on one drills and displayed great foot work, form, and
technique in the individual period."
That recognition allowed Belcher to go to the
Ultimate 100 Invite Camp, in Duncanville Texas, and left that combine as one of
the top offensive linemen in the 2012 class. The list was chosen from lists
compiled from Rivals.com, NUC, Ultimate 100 Camp and other Recruiting services.
"He is considered one of the top freshman lineman in the country to come through our combines this season which is the reason for his invite to our Top Prospect camp," the NUC spokesperson said.
His biggest fan looks at his achievement as a learning experience.
"He is meeting a new circle of people, making some new friends and growing in the process," his mother Marla Belcher said. "He' also learning that he has to earn/work his way to be where he wants to be in life. A process that will build his character as well as passion for football," she concluded.
The Top Prospect Camp, held on July 25th and 26th, will be at OU's Indoor Football Complex. There will be no testing at this event, just competition, practice, 7 on 7, 1 on 1's and position drill to play, and compete against the best in the USA.
