Guthrie senior defensive back Dustin Bohanan became Guthrie High School's 30th All-State selection after being named to the prestigious list by the Oklahoma Coaches Association.

The OCA All-State game will be played July 30th at Tulsa Union.

Bohanan, who was selected as a defensive back, continues the five year streak of a BlueJay making the All-State list. Guthrie has had at least one All-State selection in seven of the last nine seasons.

"We (coaches) looked at the film of everyone nominated and Dustin was one of the best ones (defensive backs) we saw," Guthrie head coach Rafe Watkins said.

Bohanan, who was a two-year starter for the Jays in the secondary, finished with 58 tackles and two interceptions in his senior campaign. Bohanan was also instrumental in the Jays wins over Duncan and Tulsa East Central.

The senior returned a 51-yard punt against Duncan to give the Jays a 13-0 lead and the following week returned a punt near midfield to setup Guthrie's go ahead touchdown against East Central.

Fellow seniors Jaden Chappell and Dustin Bowman just missed out on the list, but will be one of the first asked to play in the All-State game if anyone elects not to play in the game.

"Chappell and Bowman just missed out, but we hope they will get a chance to play," Watkins said.

Chappell, Bowman, and Bohanan all made the Class 5A team. Bowman was an offensive line selection and Chappell a linebacker selection.
