The Guthrie BlueJays come back to the Rock looking to get a
2-game losing streak behind them as they host the winless Capitol Hill
Redskins, Friday night.
Guthrie enters with a 4-4 record overall and a 3-2 district
record and appears will be the third team represented in 5A-2
and will have to play their first play-off game on the road at
either El Reno, or Duncan.
The loser of the Duncan/El Reno game in Week 10 will all but
certain finish second in 5A-1 barring a major upset this week
and will host the Jays.
The same can not be said for Capitol Hill, who is now in their
9th season of not winning a district game. The
Redskins won two games two years ago which match their most wins
dating back to the 1999 season.
On September 8th 2006, Capitol Hill snapped a 43-game losing streak with a win
over rival U.S. Grant with a 43-12 win. It would be there only win last year.
The Redskins (0-8) have
struggled offensively by scoring just 26-points all season and
has been shut-out five times. Ironically, the most points
Capitol Hill has scored this year is 12 against Carl Albert in a
69-12 set back.
Noble won their first game of the season last week over Capitol
Hill, 48-7. The only other Redskins points was in Week 2 against
U.S. Grant (13-7).
Guthrie concludes the regular season next week on Senior Night when Noble comes
to town.
Guthrie athletics can be heard on Triple Play Sports Radio 105.1 FM and on
