KOCO TV has the Jays in top 15 of all time

By: Chris Evans

KOCO Oklahoma News Channel 5 and sports director Mark Rodgers has compiled a list of the Top 15 teams of all time since 1950 and the Guthrie BlueJays have landed a spot.

The 2007 State Champions, Guthrie BlueJays, fall right in the middle of the pack at No. 8 on the list. The 2007 Jays are the most recent team to make the list. The next season from Guthrie was the 2004 Shattuck Indians at No. 15 on the list.

KOCO's criteria was that only one school's season could make the list and a major factor was the team had to go undefeated. To see the video please visit Guthrie Sports Page TV by clicking here.

Guthrie scored more points then any other school in Oklahoma history with 764 points and ranks 11th all-time nationally according to Max Preps. Along with the powerful offense that average 54.5 points a game, the Jays held opponents to an average of 6 points a game and shut-out 8 of their 14 opponents. The Jays also strung together 19 straight scoreless quarters on opponents.

Topping the list was the 1997 Jenks Trojans, who were led by Rocky Calmus. Throughout that season, Jenks fans could be heard saying, "We're not cocky, we have Rocky."

Some what surprising, not one Carl Albert, or Tulsa Union team made the list. Here is the complete list:

1. 1997 Jenks Trojans 9. 2003 Morrison Wildcats
2. 1950 Muskogee Roughers 10. 1995 Midwest City Bombers
3. 1987 Lawton Wolverines 11. 1985 Fox Foxes
4. 1990 Lawton Ike Eagles 12. 1969 T. Washington Hornets
5. 1956 Frederick Bombers 13. 2000 Clinton Red Tornadoes
6. 1977 Putnam City Pirates 14. 2000 Millwood Falcons
7. 1957 Ada Cougars 15. 2004 Shattuck Indians
