The two time defending state champions dropped their first game of the season with a 46-45 setback to the Western Heights Jets, in Oklahoma City, to drop their season record to 1-1.

Guthrie got a game high 20-points from junior Kentrell Brothers and 10 more from senior forward B.J. McDonald, but was not enough from the athletic Jets, who earlier in the week defeated Carl Albert.

The Jays held a slim one point margin at the break with a 22-21 lead after leading by the same after the first quarter (13-12), but the Jets made their move after halftime.

The Jets outscored the Jays 14-11 in the third period before Guthrie outscored Heights in the fourth (12-11), but was not enough to overcome.

Guthrie will now turn their attention to the Ardmore Holiday Festival Tournament. The Jays have won this tournament the last two seasons and will begin play with Yukon on December 28th for the three day event.
