Guthrie improves to 8-4 and have won two games in a row heading into the competitive Carl Albert Tournament, Thursday evening, where the Jays open up with third ranked Ardmore.

The Jays jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Piedmont tied the game, but finished the quarter on a 9-4 run before opening it up in the second quarter.

Brothers chipped in with 10 points in the second quarter as Piedmont could manage just five in the frame. On the night, Brothers was 10-17 from the field and six of eight from the free throw line.

Guthrie started the third quarter with a 10-2 run to increase their lead to 41-15. Senior forward Devon Hall aided that run with back-to-back layups in a 20 second span.

Head coach Pete Papahronis was able to empty his bench in the fourth quarter, and got a spark from Caleb Murillo, who finished with 10 points by going 4-4 from the field.

Guthrie improves to 4-2 in conference play and 2-2 in the North division and will return back home Tuesday evening when they host Western Heights. The Jets, who are currently ranked sixth, gave the Jays one of their four losses as well as one of the two buzzer beaters earlier this season in Oklahoma City.
