McDonald earns 2nd team honors for USA team

B.J. was one of twelve selected to play in USA Junior National Basketball team.

Guthrie BlueJay forward B.J. McDonald played in the USA Junior Nationals Basketball team this past week and was one of twelve selected to play for the

elite squad that finished as runner-ups.

 

"I thank God for what he has blessed me with and thankful/grateful to everyone who "supported" me thru contributions to make the trip possible," McDonald said.

 

The prestigious, week long tournament was held on the campus of Illinois, in Champaign.

 

McDonald earned 2nd team All American honors for his play and took the opportunity to the fullest.

 

"It was a lot of fun. I met a lot of great people and enjoyed doing some sight-seeing and making new friends," McDonald said.

McDonald was invited to the try-out at the University of Oklahoma along with 84 other athlete's from across Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas.

McDonald helped aid the Jays to back-to-back 5A state championships and is preparing for his senior campaign. He won his first state title while playing with his older brother Kent McDonald, and says he knows what to work on for his upcoming senior year.

"Ball handling skills and fast decision making," McDonald concluded with.

"I am very proud of him and his accomplishments,"  his mother Bobbie McDonald said.

"I am very proud of BJ. He is a hard worker and he loves the game of basketball," his father Kent McDonald said and had a personal message for the senior-to-be.

"Keep up the hard work on the court and in the classroom, you will go far. Love dad."
