Western Heights may have witnessed the Donte' Foster's coming out party.
Despite being named the most valuable player in the McGuinness Tourney, Foster took his game to another level leading the Jays to a 66-46 win over the Western Heights Jets and in the process collected a season high 25 points, in Oklahoma City.
The Jays trailed 8-4 early in the first quarter, but 4:00 minutes later the Jays would go on a 17-2 run to fly past the Jets and had a 21-10 first quarter lead. Foster led the charge with 8-points and was named the A-Always Storage Player of the Game.
Both teams would trade buckets in the second quarter, but Guthrie eventually outscored the Jets 16-11 to take a 37-21 halftime lead by making 17 of 32 shots in the half.
Guthrie (10-0) extends their winning streak to 18-games in a row and have not allowed an opponent to 48 points all season long.
Foster collected eight more points in the third quarter as the Jays outscored the Jets 18-14 in the third frame and busted out their biggest lead of the night (24) on multiple occasions.
In the final quarter the Jays kept their distance, but got a scare at the 2:51 mark when senior guard Keaton Callins fell hard to floor on his hip. Callins, who was called for a charging foul on the play, was slow to get up, but walked off on his power and sat out the rest of the game and finished with 10 points.
Guthrie shot 55% from the field on 27 of 49 shooting and was a respectable 10 of 15 (67%) from the free throw line. On the other side, Heights shot 18-49 (37%) and committed 14 turnover's to just six for the Jays.
Sophomore defensive specialist Kentrell Brothers had perhaps his best game of the year, as well, with 12 points as the Jays scored their most points in a game since December 19th when they piled 71 on Deer Creek.
Guthrie will be back in action Friday when they travel to Piedmont. The Jays will have played nine games since last playing on their home floor (December 16th).
