In the first meeting between Guthrie and Western Heights it was a 17-2 run that decided the game and in the second meeting, Friday at Guthrie High School, it was a 20-2 run that open the game for the BlueJays.
Donte Foster led the way with 24 points, including 16 in the first half, as the Jays improved to 17-1 with a dominating 67-29 win over the Jets. Foster scored 25 in the game back on January 13th.
Guthrie opened the game with a 14-2 in the first 6:06 and would lead by 15 at the half, 32-17, but then Guthrie took off.
The Jays jumped out on an 11-0 run in the first 2:49 of the third quarter and then a 9-0 run to finish the final 3:09. By the end of the quarter, Guthrie outscored Heights 20-2. The Jets fall to 6-13 on the year.
The highlight of the game came on a two hand slam by Foster, his first of two, in the second quarter to give the Jays an 18-8 advantage. Foster shot 79% from the field on 11 of 14 shooting.
Keaton Callins joined Foster in double figures by scoring 14 points. Matt Hamilton and B.J. McDonald each added 7 points.
Guthrie will play three big games this week starting with El Reno, on the road, Tuesday evening. Thursday and Saturday will be with top rival Carl Albert Titans. The Thursday match-up will be in Guthrie for a regular season contest and Saturday is for the conference championship at El Reno.
The BlueJays have defeated El Reno and Carl Albert once this season.
