Tough to have a homecoming game when No. 1 comes to town, but that is how it was for the Piedmont Wildcats.
Top-ranked Guthrie disposed of the Wildcats 44-27, Friday evening, in a sluggish contest. However, the Jays improve to 11-0 while Piedmont falls to 5-6. With the loss, Piedmont's two game winning streak is discontinued.
Guthrie got a game high 12-points from senior guard Keaton Callins to help extend the Jays winning streak to 19-games. Guthrie also remains undefeated in conference play at 5-0.
The BlueJays, who were playing without the services of senior Donte' Foster, held a 24-14 halftime lead and would not allow Piedmont no more then 9 points in each quarter. Guthrie now has held two opponents to 29 or less points in a game (Westmoore).
Sophomore Kentrell Brother and junior B.J. McDonald gave the Jays eight points each.
Guthrie hits the home hard wood for the second time this season when the entertain Deer Creek, Tuesday night, before participating in the deep and talented Carl Albert Tournament next Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Guthrie (11-0) 14 10 10 10 44
