Keaton Callins started it for the Guthrie BlueJay basketball team and he ended for the Jays.
Deer Creek jumped out of the gates with a 4-0 lead in the first 2:20, but Callins in the next 1:09 went to work and would give the Jays the lead, 5-4, that they would never let go off en route to a 64-45 win over the 1-12 Antlers.
Deer Creek would play the Jays tough in the first half with Guthrie having just a 21-17 halftime lead, but again Callins came to the rescue. Only this time, in a much bigger way.
Callins reeled off seven straight points, of his third quarter 15 points, and the Jays started the third quarter out on a 17-0 run in 5:30 to open the game up. The huge run secured the Jays winning streak of 20 games in a row. Callins finished the night with 26-points and was named the A-Always Storage Player of the Game. In all, 10 different Jays scored on the night.
Guthrie (12-0) is now 3-0 over Deer Creek this season and improves to 6-0 in the Suburban Conference North.
