For the second time this basketball season Guthrie got by the Ardmore Tigers this time in the opening round of the Titan Classic, at Carl Albert High School, with a score of 70-63.
Sixth ranked Guthrie will now play Tulsa Union. Union, ranked No.3 in Class 6A, defeated 6A's Edmond Memorial 48-47 following the Guthrie game. The Bulldogs are ranked No. 12 in the state's largest class.
Guthrie defeated Ardmore, December 28th, in the second round of the Ardmore Holiday Festival Tournament, 66-58, en route to winning the tournament. Guthrie improves to 10-1 on the year while Ardmore, ranked 11th in the latest poll, drops to 9-4.
The Bluejays jumped out to a 23-8 advantage in the first eight minutes of the game, but the Tigers would outscore the Jays 18-14 in the second frame to pull the score within 37-26 game at the half.
Ardmore would open the third quarter with a 13-5 run to pull within three, 42-39, midway through the quarter. Guthrie, however, would score their opponent 9-3 to take a 51-42 lead into the final quarter.
In the last quarter, Guthrie would take a 49-39 advantage midway through the quarter and would not allow the Tigers any closer then four points the rest of the way.
Senior Kent McDonald led the way for the Jays with 18 points while junior guard Donte' Foster added 17 while fellow junior Keaton Callins had 16.

On the other side of the bracket Carl Albert got by Del City and Midwest City cruised by Millwood, 73-53.
