Guthrie senior Kent McDonald, who helped the Bluejay football and basketball teams to state championships this season has been awarded for his efforts.
McDonald was named as an All-Star to the Oklahoma Boys Basketball Coaches Association for classes 6A thru 4A.
Guthrie assistant coach Doug Russell was not surprised by the All-Star selection of McDonald.
"I would be lying if I said it was a surprise. Kent was named to the All-Star teams of both the tournaments we went to and was second team All-tournament during our run for state," Russell said. "He has been nominated for, or won so many awards throughout his high school career that its is no longer a surprise when I hear of him gaining another accolade.
Russell mentioned that Kent gave other teams match-up problems with his athletic ability and will be a key aspect in finding in next years team.
"Kent is hard to game plan for because he can do so many things equally well on the court so it is hard for coaches to tell their teams make sure he does not do one thing. We will miss him next year and look forward for one of our young guys to step up."
McDonald and the other large school athlete's will play, June 7th, at Oklahoma Baptist University with a tip time of 3:30. The coaches for the All-Star game will be Trent Miller of Byng and Bryan Jennings of Harrah.
McDonald joins fellow senior Emily Davis to be chosen as an All Star from the coaches of Oklahoma. The following is a list of the All-Stars that will be later split up to form two teams.
