Mother nature has not made best of friends in the last few days to baseball coaches, players, and grounds crew. However, the Carl Albert regional played five games in one day with the Guthrie BlueJays playing in three of those.
Lawson pitched a gem by keeping the Titan bats to a minimum by allowing just five hits over nine innings, but two of those coming in the last and decisive inning.
Guthrie must beat Carl Albert twice today to advance to next week's 5A state tournament. First game is scheduled for 11am and can be heard on 105.1 FM and on Guthrie Sports Page. With a Guthrie win, the second game will follow 30 minutes at the conclusion of Game 1.
In the second game of five, Guthrie knocked in four runs in the first and three more in the second to pull ahead of Southeast and eventually getting the 10-run mercy rule. The Jays scattered eight hits and took advantage of two Spartan errors.
Hendren pitched with broken bones on his left side of the face after taking a ball off the bat in the Deer Creek Classic two weeks ago.
Crockett was productive in the three games by going 6-8 at the bat including a double and homer. Crockett added five runs and three stolen bases.
Jay catcher John Cotton also added a homerun in the first game that helped put three runs on the board in the second inning. |
