Edmond Memorial's baseball team put a damper on Senior Night for the Guthrie BlueJays with a 6-1 victory on a wet and chilly night at Squires Field, Friday night.
Keester took a perfect game into the forth inning until John Cotton and Jaden Chappell produced two out back-to-back hits. However, Hayden Seifert, who was pinch hitting, was unable to bring them home by grounding out to the shortstop.
Chappell was named the A-Always Storage Player of the Game on the radio broadcast.
Guthrie's only run came in the sixth inning on a Chappell single that brought home Luke Davis, who was hit-by-pitch. The Jays could manage just five base runners all night.
Clayton Lawson suffered the loss, but pitched a complete game. Lawson, who is expected to get the start next Wednesday in regional play, scattered six hits and was credited with five earned runs.
Memorial scored the first run of the game in the second inning. Alex Hill tripled to start the inning and was brought in on an Austin Beck-Hill ground out to Corbin Crockett.
The Bulldogs opened the game up in the fifth inning by scoring five runs on three hits and taking advantage of two BlueJay errors as the 'Dogs batted around in the frame highlighted by a Curtis Jungles homer.
Guthrie concludes the regular season with a 17-15 record while Memorial improves to 16-17. |
