The Guthrie Bluejay baseball team got a nice Suburban Conference road game win, in Oklahoma City, on Monday afternoon.
Guthrie would surrender a run in the first inning, but pitcher J Hensley and the Jays shut out Western Heights for the remainder of the game en route to a 4-1 win. The win gives Guthrie an 11-7 record.
The Jays, who were coming off a second place finish in the Choctaw Tournament, got one run in the fourth, two runs in the fifth, and one more in the sixth. Both teams would get four hits on the afternoon.
Both teams are too square off again, Tuesday, pending weather in Guthrie.
The 8th grade Enid Plainsmen got some revenge over the junior Jays, on Monday afternoon, with a 10-3 win over Guthrie at Squires Field.
The Jays beat the same Enid team, Saturday, in the finals of the Guthrie Tournament. The junior Jays are now 10-2 on the season. The second game between the two squads was cancelled due to weather in the Guthrie area.
The junior high will be in action again this week when they travel to Edmond Cheyenne, Choctaw, and Western Heights.
