The Oklahoma showers earlier in the week cancelled the Guthrie baseball game with McGuinness on Tuesday and delayed the Ardmore Tourney that the Jays are participating in this weekend.
The 2008 Noble Energy Southern Oklahoma Spring Break Shootout, hosted by Ardmore and Lone Grove High Schools, was scheduled to start on Wednesday, but will now start Thursday at the Ardmore and Lone Grove baseball diamonds. Guthrie is slated to begin play with Duncan with a 6:00 start time and then Ardmore at 9:00 in the wooden bat festival.
"Our tournament, traditionally, has had some of the best competition in the state," Ardmore coach Zack Birth told the Daily Ardmoreite.
"We're bringing in (Class) 6A power Edmond Santa Fe, and we have Latta. On the other side of the bracket, we have some good (Class) 4A teams. We've got some top 15 (Class) 5A teams, and our kids are really excited about the competition and challenge," Birth continued.
Guthrie will be playing in Pool A along with Ardmore, Duncan, Noble, Edmond Santa Fe, and Latta. Due to the delay of the tournament not all teams will face each other.
Pool B teams consist of Lone Grove, McLoud, Marlow, Blanchard and Byng.
Guthrie Sports Page will have multiple updates as they are available from Ardmore throughout the tournament.
